This institution from Essen (DE) is a Public Foundation of the government of North-Rhine-Westphalia. The institution has been accredited NGO Special Consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). It is an institute at the University of Duisburg-Essen with close co-operation, but not part of the university.
The institution permanently occupies 26 persons. For the project have worked two persons from the Institution’s full time staff. The Duisburg-Essen University has about 26.000 Students.
The institution promotes German-Turkish relations and the level of knowledge and information about Turkey and Turkish migrants in Europe, advances the cooperation between Turkey, Germany and other European countries and supports research and public relations.
The Centre for Studies on Turkey is a Research institute which among its others activities focuses on the general immigration research within Germany and other European nations, through social research, presentation of political proposals, work in the public and service sector etc., particularly by using and promoting networks. Also, other thematic focal points of the institution are the socio-economic and political developments within Turkey and the trade and political relations of Turkey to its neighbours and the European Union.
This Research institution has participated only to the evaluation and dissemination part of the Project, offering its specific expertise on the immigrants’ issue. For the institution are working Political Scientists, Social Scientists, Economic Scientists, Ethnologists and Islam Scientists, who have experience in the evaluation of projects, in the development of reports and statistical analysis.
